Wooden bird call

I make two wooden bird calls.
When I am making,
these performance is half in doubt.

These wood is as hard as iron,
'Sansuyu(Cornus officinalis)' tree wood.
I add some coarse kolrosing on these.

With two bird calls that I made before.
Not prepare rosin, instead billiards' chalk.

I have experience with these
that Great Tits gathered around me,
and I could look near Varied Tits' copulation.

Go back to the countryside

I have an earnest yearning for forest life.
So I decide to return my area of childhood.
There is a big lake 'Soyangho'
at the front of my cottage.

The boat slips is 200m down from my cottage.
I will go away for three nights and four days canoe trip.

This is my cottage, deserted for five years.
Walnut, apricot, apple, chestnut, ginkgo...
many fruit trees are around here.

Room heating is run by firewood.
Korean traditional floor heater 'ondol'

Everything is under repair. :)
Fortunately, the electric current
and the water supply have suvived.

Because of repairing with my own hands,
it will be slow in progress.

Spoon carving and kolrosing

I get some pieces of wood
from a fallen Mongolian oak tree.
It is the best wood for the spoon.

Grasp the rough shape
with carving axe.

Go into details
with carving knife and spoon knife.

Complete desired form.

Coarse kolrosing
and some oversight.
Coffee powder and linseed oil.

A bead and
a leather leash.

Smaller Whelen field test

I leave the office at six.
When I arrive my camp site,
it is after dark.

The shelter takes crooked shape
due to darkness.
But, its pitching is ease;
one guideline,
one wood stick,
some pegs.

It is mild considering winter night.
Thus I need not install aluminum foil.

It does not get wet in the dewfall or frost.
Waxing is effective.
Everything is moistureless.

New Nessmuks

The above picture was my first Nessmuk's set.
This set was less useful
as it is rather symbolic.

Here is my new Nessmuks ;
more practical,
the unfied tone of color.

All arrangements have been made
for my trip to forest.

Leather SAK scale

I recover my SAK that I have lost a month ago.
On this occasion,
I feel an indescribable attachment to it.
I decide to remodel its scales.

Remove plastic scales.
Transfer its pattern on the leather.
Cut out and punch some holes
fitting to rivets.

Rub down the cut ends with sandpaper.
Varnish with the sap of lacquer tree.
Dry...

Glue the leather scales with Loctite.
My SAK looks hoary.
:)

A problem awaiting solution is tweezer, toothpick packing.
These have many uses.
I sew a tiny pouch for these.

This is my style :
rustic and gawky.
